What is Potion Stir?

A cauldron bubbles away in the middle of your camera picture, and above it a big arrow turns — clockwise, or anticlockwise. That arrow is the whole instruction. You stir by moving in circles: a hand going round and round, or your head, or your whole body if you have room. The potion swirls the way you swirl, at the speed you swirl it, and stops the moment you do, so you can see straight away whether it is working. A ring around the rim fills as the turns go in. Stir the wrong way and that ring unwinds back toward empty rather than punishing you — a child who gets the direction backwards loses a few seconds and nothing else, and the screen tells them to go the other way round. The recipe is a short list of steps, two clockwise turns then three the other way, and it stays printed on screen from start to finish with the current step highlighted and the count ticking up. There is nothing to memorise and nothing to aim. Finish every step and the potion is bottled onto the shelf, a new colour is poured, and the arrow flips. Sixty-second round, and the recipes keep getting longer, so the ceiling is your own stirring rather than a number we picked. Press SPACE any time for a different recipe — swapping costs nothing, so a direction that will not come never strands you. Hard asks for more turns in each direction and more steps per potion, and the potion cools if you stop, so it wants you to keep moving.
