What is Drum Beat?
The first rhythm game here, and the first scored on when you move instead of where. A drum loop counts you in for one bar, then four coloured pads pulse along the bottom, one per beat, each with a ring that closes onto the pad exactly as the beat lands — so the beat is something you can see as well as hear, and the round stays playable with the sound muted. Answer each beat with any burst of movement at all: a clap, a stomp, a punch at the air, a nod. Nothing is aimed and nothing is touched, which means a child standing up with the whole room in frame and a child sitting down with only one hand visible play exactly the same game. GREAT, GOOD and OK grade how close the move landed, every beat answered in a row grows a groove multiplier, and a missed beat or a move that lands nowhere near a beat drops it back to one — so waving non-stop scores almost nothing while keeping time scores a lot. The tempo steps up three times across the sixty seconds, so the only ceiling is how fast you can still keep time. Hard mode starts quicker and ends quicker again.
